Electrofusion Fittings Specifications

Raw Materials *MDPE - Medium Density Polyethylene; Black UV stabilised *Density 0.93g/cm3 (DIN 53479; procedure A) *Melt Index (MFI 190/5): 0.7-1.3g/10min (DIN 53735) *PE 80 Type A in accordance with AS4131 (Int)-1993.
Melt Compatibility *The PE used for Plasson EF program is compatible with most of the raw materials HDPE and MDPE and can be fused with pipes of the Fusion index groups 005 and 010 (MFI 190/5 0.4-1.3g/10min) according to DIN 16776 Part 1 (April 1976). *Suits PE pipe made from PE63; PE80 and PE100 - AS4131 (Int) 1993.
Automatic Welding *The Plasson-Fusematic fittings incorporate a resistor in one of the fittings terminals (a red pin) which is specific to that fitting. The Plasson-Fusematic Automatic control box reads the fitting resistor and automatically sets and welds for the correct weld time and avoids operator error. Fittings are also labelled for barcode reading; manual set times and have rising melt indicators.
Manual Welding *Plasson-Fusematic fittings are labelled with weld and cool times and can be welded with other manufacturers' 39.5 V (non-automatic) control boxes.
Specifications
*Plasson EF Fittings are produced according to British Gas specifications BG PS/PL2 part 4 and 6 for gas as well as WI5 4-32-06 specifications for water. Therefore; EF Fittings are also suitable for ISO standards and planned ISO standards as well as for Australian standards AS1159; AS4310 and AS2718.1. *Threads on transition fittings conform DIN2999; BSZI:1973; AS1722 Part 1-1975. *It is possible to join metric pipes as per DIN 8074; ISO 3607; and ISO 4437 in accordance with normal or narrow tolerances. *For greater ovality use rerounding clamps. If ovality causes gap between concentrically located pipe and fitting to exceed 1% of pipe OD then pipe must be rerounded to ensure correct welding. After rerounding - if the gap still exceeds 1% of pipe OD then check pipe OD dimension as it may be under specified OD (Note: Maximum gap between eccentrically located pipe and fitting; ie. pipe touching fitting at one point; must not exceed 2% of pipe OD). See diag. *All Couplings are minimum PN16 (water) as per AS1460-1969 - Part 2. *All other electrofusion fittings are minimum PN12.5 (water) as per AS 1460-1989 - Part 2). *Metal components in tapping tee cutters are brass to ISO CuAn40Pb2 - suitable for both gas and water applications. Metal components in transition fittings are brass CZ132-BS2874 - dezincification resistant - suitable for water applications.
Pressure Conditions / Pipe Dimensions *For pipe sizes 50mm and below the minimum wall thickness of pipe to be used is SDR 13.6. For later sized pipes the minimum wall thickness is SDR 17.6. (Thinner walls may result in pipe wall collapse due to heat and pressure generated during the electrofusion welding process.)
